What is EMDR and is it right for me?
EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment that was developed to help those who experienced trauma and distressing life experiences. As a well-researched treatment, EMDR is the gold standard treatment for PTSD. It has been effective in treating anxiety (including OCD, panic attacks, and phobias), grief/loss, depression, relationship and attachment difficulty, chronic health issues, disordered eating and body image, and self-esteem concerns.
EMDR engages the brain’s natural healing process to re-process painful experiences or trauma, helping to reduce trauma, anxiety, depression, panic attacks and relationship issues. With Dr. Shannen Vong, different therapy techniques help clients who struggle with anxiety, panic attacks and other stressors.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on identifying and modifying unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors, helping you develop more effective coping strategies and improve your mental well-being.
trauma
Our present and future should not be dictated solely by our past. From our past pain and struggles, we can find ways to get stronger, better, and more resilient. We can move forward and step into the light.
emerging adulthood
As we step into adulthood, things can be difficult. Our growing pains can be harsh. We just need a place to have the tranquil space to heal, grow and become a better version of ourselves.
race and cultural issues
Our heritage and background make us who we are. They are gifts. We can embrace our race and culture. How can we create power and agency so we can thrive?
